Workers' Compensation

If you have recently been involved in a work related accident and suffered an injury, a work related illness, or if someone close to you has been injured or killed in a work related accident, you may have the legal right to receive benefits from your state workers' compensation program.

Workers’ compensation typically pays for medical care and provides cash benefits for workers who are injured on the job or who contract work related illnesses. It also pays benefits to families of workers who die of work related causes. Workers’ compensation pays for medical care for work-related injuries immediately; it pays temporary disability benefits after a waiting period of three to seven days; and it pays permanent partial and permanent total disability benefits to workers who have lasting consequences of disabilities caused on the job.  Each state has its own workers’ compensation program and federal employees are covered under federal law.  For more information regarding employment law and work related issues, visit the OptimusLaw® Employment Law Help Center

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2002 there were 4,700,600 cases of work related nonfatal injuries and illnesses and 5,252 deaths in private industry.

If the work related accident was caused by human error, someone's negligence, a hazard, a dangerous condition, a design flaw or a manufacturing defect, you may be entitled to bypass your state's workers' compensation program and sue your employer for compensation for your injuries, loss of wages and other losses.

If you are permanently disabled or are denied benefits  you should always consult a qualified, licensed lawyer. You may contact the sponsoring law firm below to discuss the injury or schedule a free consultation. These workers' compensation cases are normally handled on a contingency basis. Typically there are no fees unless the lawyer obtains a settlement or award for you.
